Saturday 3rd to Sunday 4th December
This year all the fun and frolics are being re-focused onto Staithe Street, and we want Wells traders to sprinkle the town’s main shopping thoroughfare with festive stardust.
Businesses are being urged to set up stalls outside their shops and ‘light up’ the town by decorating their windows and buildings with sparkling illuminations.
Traders from outside the town are also being invited to set up stalls in the Health Centre car park and on Staithe Street car park (subject to the works at The Maltings).
These include the Norwich Samba Band, the Thundermental street performers, the Dickensian Ding Dong, the Ukelele Elves and a host of street buskers.
Things will start to get really festive at 5pm with the traditional turning on of the town’s Christmas Lights by BBC Look East husband and wife presenters David Whiteley and Amelia Reynolds.
This will be followed by the traditional lantern parade down Staithe Street to The Quay where the crowds will assemble in readiness for Santa’s arrival by boat, the opening of his grotto and a fantastic fireworks display.
North Norfolk District Council has kindly agreed to waive parking charges for the Stearman’s Yard and Staithe Street car parks on the day.
A number of fundraising events will also be taking place in the run-up to December, including a supper at The Crown Hotel.
Use the ´Visit Website´ link above to go to the website where a full programme of events will be available to view. The full programme is usually included in the Quay magazine which is distributed in November.
