Description

Fairhaven is a unique garden rich in wildlife. The Garden is an eclectic mix of native and cultivated plantings with a network of dyke systems and a private broad. Walking events at Fairhaven are:-

Sunday 1st January from 11am to 12:30pm - New Year´s Day Walk

Enjoy a seasonal tour of our woodland garden. Learn about the history of Fairhaven, the collection of plants introduced by the 2nd Lord Fairhaven and the organic working methods still used today by the gardening team. Finish your walk with a complimentary mince pie and hot mulled wine.

Included in garden entry. Free to Fairhaven members. No need to book.

Sunday 26th March from 11am to 12:30pm - Mothering Sunday Walk

Explore our beautiful Spring woodland garden with its predominantly yellow-flowering plants of wild primrose, skunk cabbage and daffodils, as well as wood anemones and camellias on this guided tour with the Head Gardener. Every Mother receives a primrose.

Included in garden entry. Free to Fairhaven members. No need to book.

Monday 24th April to Sunday 14th May from 10am to 5pm - Bluebell Weeks

Exclusive access to our neighbouring nature reserve and its bluebell woods.

Included in garden entry. Free to Fairhaven members. No need to book.

Sunday 30th April from 11am to 1pm - Bluebell Walk

Guided walk through the Fairhaven woodland garden to an adjacent nature reserve abundant with bluebells. 4 1/2 miles in total.

Included in garden entry. Free to Fairhaven members. No need to book.

Wednesdays 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th May from 2pm to 4pm - Primula Tour and Cream Tea

Join us on a guided tour of the garden with the Head Gardener showcasing the thousands of candelabra primulas, including their care and propagation. At the end of the tour there is a cream tea with homemade scones, jam and clotted cream and a pot of tea or cup of coffee for one.

£11.50 per person (£5 members). Booking is advisable. Call 01603 270449.

Sunday 21st May from 11am to 12:30pm - Primula Walk

Guided walk through our woodland garden with the Head Gardener when the thousands of naturalised candelabra primulas are at their prolific best.

Included in garden entry. Free to Fairhaven members. No need to book.

Sunday 25th June from 2pm to 4pm - Hedgerow Cream Tea

Take a stroll around Fairhaven gardens with local forager Jon Tyler looking at and picking some wild foods. Then sample jams, jelly´s and infusions made from foraged items as we enjoy a cream tea on the wild side.

Saturday September 16th at 7:30pm to 9:30pm - Woodland Night Walk

Take a journey into the night-time world of Fairhaven. Explore the stars, unlock the secret of rub light, encounter nocturnal wildlife and witness strange night phenomena as we discover the magic hidden in the dark when the sun goes down.

£9 adult; £6 child. Age 8+. Booking is essential. Sorry no dogs allowed.

Wednesdays 4th and 11th October at 2pm to 4pm - Autumn Ramble and Cream Tea

Join us on a guided tour of our autumnal garden with the Head Gardener. At the end of the tour there is a cream tea with homemade scones, jam and clotted cream and a pot of tea or cup of coffee for one.

Sunday 19th November at 11am to 12:30pm - Autumn Walk

Enjoy the spectacular autumn colour of our woodland garden with its mature oak and beech trees on this guided walk with the Head Gardener.

Tuesday 26th Decenber at 11am to 12:30pm - Boxing Day Walk

Walk off your Christmas dinner with a tour of our woodland garden with the Head Gardener.
