The Patch is a comfortable self catering chalet bungalow on the edge of The Wash on the North West coast of Norfolk, a few minutes walk along rough footpaths from the quiet, undeveloped beach of Snettisham.

Uniquely, it has been created around a Victorian railway carriage, which houses two of the four bedrooms, and the shower room/loo. This feature makes it appealing to those with slight mobility problems – an elderly relative, for instance.

The Patch overlooks a small lake. It’s well away from traffic and street lights, and is set in its own large private garden with parking space for two or three cars.

It sleeps up to eight people, and there is also room for a travel cot, which can be provided – as can stair gates, for those with small children (or a dog!).

It’s available all year round, and there’s a big wood burner in the large lounge/diner, and electric heaters in all other rooms. The house has been renovated extensively in the last few years, when the two upstairs rooms were added.

The back garden is very private, and there’s a barbecue and plenty of garden furniture. There are several bikes in the garage for exploring the local area.

We accept one or two well-behaved dogs, for up to a week at a time.

Snettisham is a great base for exploring North West Norfolk, with many places of interest and beauty within a few miles. For some the internationally renowned RSPB bird reserve will be an attraction, especially in the winter when great flocks of pink-footed geese home in on the vast mudflats of The Wash.

Take a Virtual Tour of The Patch by visiting our website.

Prices range from £160 for two nights for two people from November to March, to £660 for up to eight people for a full week in July and August.
