Description

Saturday 8th April from 9.30am to 12.30pm - Wild Bird Photography

This workshop will start with a short talk about suitable photographic equipment and how to set up a feeding station to attract birds close to your lens. It is hoped that students will be familiar with the basic settings and operation of their digital SLR but help will be given on this where necessary along with advice on the best settings to use for this type of subject. The main part of the course will be spent in Fairhaven’s bird hide to put the theory into practice. Course led by professional photographer Peter Mallett.

Please bring your own camera and telephoto lens, together with your camera´s instruction manual.

£45 per person (£40 Fairhaven members).

Saturday 20th May from 9.30am to 12.30pm - Beginner’s Photography

Practical workshop in our woodland garden for beginners using SLR or DSLR cameras led by professional photographer Peter Mallett. The workshop will cover basic camera controls and operation, understanding exposure, ISO, shutter speeds and apertures, exposure compensation and lenses.

Please bring your own camera and instruction manual.

£35 per person (£30 Fairhaven members).

Saturday 17th June from 9.30am to 12.30pm - Intermediate Photography

Practical workshop in our woodland garden for the more experienced using DSLR cameras led by professional photographer Peter Mallett. This workshop is aimed at digital SLR photographers keen to learn how to take control of their cameras by switching to manual settings to improve their photographs. The workshop will cover how to manually set ISO, shutter speed and aperture, to freeze action and control depth of field. Learn how the light meter works and how to use manual exposure for better results in difficult lighting conditions, how to understand the histogram and how to use it to improve exposure accuracy.

Please bring your own camera and instruction manual.

£35 per person (£30 Fairhaven members).

Saturday October 28th from 9.30am to 12.30pm - Fungi Photography

This is a practical workshop in our woodland garden for beginners or intermediates using SLR or DSLR cameras led by professional photographer Peter Mallett. The workshop will cover subject selection, lens choice, use of extension tubes and other accessories, composition, depth of field, natural and artificial lighting.

Please bring your own camera and instruction manual.

£35 per person (£30 RHS and Fairhaven members).
