Quiet and peaceful Danum House, though modernised, is a historic house that still retains its Old World Charm. All bedrooms en-suite, colour TV, tea.coffee making facilites, WIFI, with full central heating. A full English breakfast is served. Off-road parking. Only minutes from the sea guests can explore the beautiful sandy beaches and the long country walks.
The property was once owned by Florence Barclay, the well known authoress of the "Rosary" and many other novels. Her original writing desk can be found in the drawing room. This Arts and Craft style house was also home to the Countess of Yarborough and her husband John Maunsell Richardson (nicknamed Cat Richardson), in his day the best gentleman National Hunt jockey in England having won every major steeplechase race twice including the Grand National in 1873 and 1874.
Overstrand is a pretty coastal fishing village close to the town of Cromer, made famous by Clement Scott the London Drama and Literary critic in Victorian times who named it Poppyland. From his published articles in the Daily Telegraph came a constant flow of London´s most famous acting community to visit and stay in Overstrand. The village is populated with large, interesting houses from that time.
