Description

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September 2017

By far the biggest live event in the North Norfolk Railway Calendar. Step back in time to the days of the blitz, rationing and utility clothing.

Step back in time at our anual 1940s weekend, our most popular event in the Railway calander!

Over the years this event has attracted more and more visitors and more and more exhibitors. It is widely felt to be one of the best events of its type in the country. People who attended last year were booking accommodation before they left as they enjoyed it so much!

Come in uniform or 1940s civilian dress to add to the atmosphere. Don´t forget your gas mask and ration books!

Hear

The singing of American Tan & Timescape, air raids, the Sheringham Salvation Army Band, Nostalgia Unlimited and gramophone music.

Taste

Wartime rations, tea, together with spam sandwiches, from the NAAFI at Weybourne.

A Cup of Char´ and a Wad´ from the Intitute tearooms at Holt,

See

Jitterbug dancers, re-enactment groups, a collection of 1940s vehicles and veteran and vintage bicycles.

Feel

The excitement, fear, hope and bravery of the Blitz.

Smell

The golden age of steam.

All in all, experience a very British weekend!

Tickets will be available to purchase in advance from the Sheringham General Office and our Online Shop. Discounted advance tickets are available up to 1 week before the event.

PLEASE NOTE: To access any of our stations, you will require a platform ticket for each station, these are not transferrable between stations; only rover tickets will be valid for this event. No half journey or single tickets will be available and no discounts or concessions will be available.

Children under 5 travel free; Family groups consist of two adults and two Children only.

Dogs and cycles are charged at £1 each for unlimited travel on that day.

Park & Ride and Event Parking

As always, we will be arranging locations whereby you can park your self powered motor vehicles, but at this stage, we can´t give the game away to the enemy! Keep checking back and we´ll let you know closer to the event.

Evening Event

There will be an Evening Entertainment event on the Saturday night, entry will be free to the holders two day event passes, else a £2 admission fee is chargeable per person.

Costume

Whilst not essential, many of our visitors opt to dress in costume from the era, if this is something you wish to do, but haven´t the faintest idea where to start, why not take a look at The Dressing Up Box?
