Norwich Motor Show & Family Fun Event

Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th AUGUST 2012 sees the fifth annual Norwich Motor Show, held at the Norwich Rugby Club Ground, North Walsham Road, Norwich. NR12 7BW.

The show is organised and run by Wroxham & Hoveton Lions Club, with the help of Norwich North Lions, on a non profit making basis and is the largest fundraiser undertaken by the Club. All proceeds are distributed equally between the East Anglian Air Ambulance and one other deserving cause, which changes each year. In 2012 this charity is Help for Heroes.

Since its inception in 2008, the event has raised approximately £37,000 and following the success of last years show, it is again being run over two days. The event came out of the idea that something different from the usual fundraising activities was required.

One of the criteria when planning the first show, was to make it an enjoyable experience for all the family and this philosophy has been the cornerstone for all the shows. In addition to new cars , from most of the local dealers, special attractions have always been included - from the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car, through James Bond to Daleks and characters from Star Wars. Indeed, because of their continued popularity, the Daleks and Star Wars have become regular visitors.

Mike Clipston, the show organiser, said “Each year we try and find something completely different for the main attraction and after last year’s Spitfire display we really had to put our thinking caps on to try and top that. We hope we have done so in having a Wild West Show, plus the ‘Flight of the Falcon’ bird of prey displays.

Martell’s Raiders will be providing the wild west shows, three times both days and following the first two shows each day, there will be a half hour workshop for the children to learn roping skills and horseshoe throwing. There is also a chance for adults to see how fast they are on the draw.

Regular features include classic cars and motor cycles, craft, trade and charity stalls, live music, including a return by popular demand of Taverham Brass Band, Police and Fire vehicles, children´s rides and amusements, competitions, live auction and grand prize draw raffle. A variety of food is available from caterers, throughout the event, from traditional burgers to hog roasts to crepes, with much in between.

Because the Lions do not have any paid executives and donate their time feely, all proceeds from events such as this, after deduction of essential expenses, are donated to the causes supported.

Admission prices have been held at previous levels i.e. £2.50 for Adults, with Children and Parking FREE, – IT’S A GREAT DAY OUT FOR ALL AGES!

Opening times are 10am to 4pm, both days.
