Star Night at Fairhaven

NGS Open Gardens - Horstead House

Horstead, Norwich NR12 7AU has lovely woodland edge walks and banks covered in millions of snowdrops. The river Bure flows through the garden with an island of red stemmed dogwoods providing a brilliant backcloth to the sea of white!

Bagthorpe PE31 6QY. Meandering woodland walks, all carpeted with snowdrops. Vegetables from the farm are used to make some delicious hot soup which is just the job for a winter’s day!

NGS Open Gardens - Chestnut Farm

Near West Beckham, Holt, NR25 6NX. Here is the opportunity to view over 70 varieties of snowdrops close up through walks and borders. Many other early spring flowers will also be on show including hellebores and some wonderfully scented shrubs.

NGS Open Gardens - Chestnut Farm

Near West Beckham, Holt, NR25 6NX. Owners John and Judy Wilson have gardened here for 50 years collecting and nurturing plants from far and wide with a fantastic 90 varieties of snowdrops taking centre stage. There is much more to see, from hellebores to some rare scented winter shrubs, plus a display of metal sculptures by local blacksmith Toby Winterbourn. Local nurseries will also be visiting so plenty of plants to buy!

NGS Open Gardens - Shorelands Wildlife Gardens

Shorelands offers something for visitors of all ages, borders overflowing with unusual perennials, gravel beds with grasses and bulbs, shrubberies containing rare and unusual trees and a new edible garden situated next to our collection of rare breed poultry. The garden is predominantly known for its free roaming animals that incl flocks of cranes on the lawns and marmoset monkeys in the trees.

This workshop will start with a short talk about suitable photographic equipment and how to set up a feeding station to attract birds close to your lens. The main part of the course will be spent in Fairhaven’s bird hide to put the theory into practice.

Guided Walk on Holkham National Nature Reserve

One of a series of short, gentle walks around the Holkham National Nature Reserve taking in the diverse habitats and seasonal highlights of the wildlife. From nesting lapwing in the spring to pink footed geese and fungi in the autumn, whatever the time of year there’s always lots to see.

The East Anglian Game & Country Fair has now established itself as one of the major events in the East Anglian region. Now in its 12th year it has become Norfolk´s largest Game & Country Fair. The show offers a fantastic day out for all the family and is held at the Norfolk Showground, which has excellent facilities and infrastructure.

NGS Open Gardens - Wells-Next-The-Sea Gardens

Wells-Next-The-Sea, Norfolk, NR23 1DP. Wells-next-the-Sea is a small friendly coastal town on the glorious North Norfolk Coast: popular with families, walkers and bird watchers. The harbour has shops, cafes, fish and chips, while a mile along The Run lies Wells Beach, served by a narrow gauge railway. Of the five in the group four are smaller town gardens and one is somewhat larger: all demonstrate a variety of design and planting approaches incorporating herbaceous borders, "cottage", shrub and fruit, with two of the gardens providing different "rooms". The route around the five gardens takes in the Parish Church of St Nicholas, the High Street with its beautiful once-shop windows and the tree lined Georgian green square, The Buttlands.
