Norfolk Events 2012 - What´s On And Where
Norfolk plays host to a great variety of events, including shows, gigs, concerts and festivals throughout the year, suiting all tastes, from classical and rock music, through maritime and heritage festivals, to flower and garden shows.
At Diss Corn Hall and Marina Theatre Lowestoft there is a vast array of events throughout the year including theatre, comedy, music and dance, cinema, family shows and poetry - something to suit almost every taste.
Whatever your interests, there is always plenty of things to do for all ages. There´s something for everyone in Norfolk.
Highlights include:
Norfolk and Norwich Festival; Holkham Country Fair; Kings Lynn Festival, North Norfolk Music Festival, Beccles Music Festival and North Norfolk Food and Drink Festival.
There are daily performances of the Summer Spectacular Circus & Water Show (dates to be advised) and the Christmas Spectacular Circus & Water Show (dates to be advised) at the Hippodrome in Great Yarmouth. There is also a varied, frequent, often daily programme of shows and events throughout the summer at the Gorleston Pavilion Theatre, and Masonic Royal Assembly Rooms in Great Yarmouth, Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre, the Open Air Theatre and Marble Hall at Holkham and the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich.

Star Night at Fairhaven
Join us for a night with the stars! Astronomers from Norwich Astronomical Society based at Seething Observatory will be bringing their telescopes. Talk by Chairman Dave Balcombe at 7.30pm. Please bring a torch, infra-red if you have one. Wrap up warm. Hot soup, teas and coffees will be available in the tearoom from 7pm.

Mixed Traffic Weekend - Mid-Norfolk Railway
This winter we celebrate all the different types of trains to be seen on a fully working railway, with Express Inter-city passenger trains and freight trains hauled by our resident fleet of Diesel locos, as well as our Railcar service.
Between 9.30am and 6.40pm each day, MNR is running 7 return passenger trains from Dereham toWymondham on the weekend of 18th &19th February; along with 2 demonstration freight trains.

Dereham Model Railway Exhibition
The Exhibition opens at 10am and closes at 4pm.
Adults entry is £5 with accompanied children under 14 years gaining free entry.
Park&Ride from Dereham Station. Bus travellers from can catch the ‘Konnect Fastbus’ which runs from Norwich Thorpe Station or the First X1.
Refreshments will be available at the school.
This year’s event is being organised jointly by the MNR and Flying Pigs Large Scale Railway Modellers.

Holkham is delighted to have been selected as a concert venue by BBC Radio 3 as part of their week-long series of broadcasts. One of Europe´s leading young quartets and Radio 3 New Generation Artists, the Signum Quartet from Berlin, perform an all Schubert programme including one of the composer´s greatest string quartets in D minor ´Death and the Maiden´ D810 in a live broadcast from the Marble Hall.

The event is held both outdoors and in the barns for Deepdale Farm. A full list of exhibitors will be published nearer the event, along with the talk programme and other activities. The most sustainable way to reach Burnham Deepdale for this event is by the Coasthopper Bus Service (www.coasthopper.co.uk) or by bike. Naturally visitors using other forms of transport are welcome and there will be free parking available.

Nelson´s County Ball
Nelson´s County Ball is taking place on the 26th May 2012 at the Norfolk Showground to raise money for the Norfolk and Norwich NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund (Registered charity number 1048170) all funds will go directly to the Oncology and Haematology ward within the hospital.
Following a three course meal the evenings entertainment will include a charity auction and raffle with loads of amazing prizes, followed by a disco + more to be confirmed.

East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival
To celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dragon, St Elizabeth Hospice has joined with Gable Events to launch the seventh East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival. The 2012 Festival takes place on Sunday 27th May on Oulton Broad in Nicholas Everitt Park, Lowestoft with new charity partner, St Elizabeth Hospice on board, and is one of the largest and most eagerly anticipated team events in the region. Over 30 crews representing companies, organisations, clubs and groups of friends from all over East Anglia are expected to battle it out over the 200m race course. They will all be seeking to knock Expro North Sea from Great Yarmouth off their pedestal as reigning champions whilst also aiming to add to the event’s impressive fund-raising total of more than £100,000 for charity over the years.

Half day practical workshop in the garden for beginners using DSLR cameras led by professional photographer Peter Mallett. This workshop is aimed at digital SLR photographers keen to learn how to take control of their cameras by switching to manual settings to improve their photographs. The workshop will cover how to manually set ISO, shutter speed and aperture, to freeze action and control depth of field. Learn how the light meter works and how to use manual exposure for better results in difficult lighting conditions, how to understand the histogram and how to use it to improve exposure accuracy. This is East Anglia´s largest one-day show, held in the grounds of Sandringham Park, with free access to the grounds and museum of Sandringham House. The Show opens from 9.30am to 5.00pm and Admission is £9 per adult, with children under 16 free.

Gorleston Clifftop Festival 2012
On Saturday we will have live music kicking off from noon and running through to 10pm with licensed bars and food stalls in the arena. The music returns once again at 4pm Sunday afternoon through to 10pm which signals the fireworks finale to finish the weekend with a bang. The fun fair will be present all weekend. We are hoping to get a lot more going on up there also.

Wells-next-the-Sea Annual Carnival
Wells-next-the-Sea in the heart of North Norfolk enjoys a traditional summer Carnival for residents and visitors. A week of family fun and events including a Carnival Day procession around the town featuring floats, fancy-dress, pull-and push-along vehicles and much more.

Norwich Motor Show & Family Fun Event
2012 sees the fifth annual Norwich Motor Show, held at the Norwich Rugby Club Ground, North Walsham Road, Norwich. NR12 7BW.
The show is organised and run by Wroxham & Hoveton Lions Club, with the help of Norwich North Lions, on a non profit making basis and is the largest fundraiser undertaken by the Club. All proceeds are distributed equally between the East Anglian Air Ambulance and one other deserving cause, which changes each year. In 2012 this charity is Help for Heroes.
