MNR is “Heritage Railway of 2013”

In December at the National Railway Heritage Awards, the Mid-Norfolk Railway was awarded Ian Allan Publishing Heritage Railway of the Year. The award was because of the Railway´s achievement of :-

  • The Four Railways themed Steam Gala in 2013.
  • The MNR’s renowned Blue/Grey air-braked carriage set.
  • The Extension of the MNR’s operational track to Hoe.
  • The East Midlands Trains High Speed Train visit to Hoe.
  • The re-decking of Wymondham Abbey platform.

On the morning of Tuesday 22nd April 2014 Mr David Allan of Ian Allan Publishing will formally unveil the plaque in the presence of MNR Members and Civic Dignitaries.

After the unveiling ceremony, the Civic Dignitaries will be invited to partake a return train ride to inspect the MNR’s ongoing development at Thuxton.

Mid-Norfolk Railway Chairman said, “the MNR is proud to have been awarded Heritage Railway of the year and I look forward to welcoming our special guests to the unveiling of the awarded plaque.”
