Great Yarmouth Restaurants

Great Yarmouth restaurants present a wide choice of gourmet delights. There are more than a hundred restaurants to choose from in the town and surrounding villages offering every popular cuisine from around the world. There are English, American, Italian, Greek, Indian, Thai and Chinese restaurants as well as all-embracing Continental and European restaurants with extensive menus.

Almost all culinary tastes are catered for from pub grub to pizzas, from fish and chips to burgers and from steaks and grills to a wide selection of Asian food. For European cuisine, including English you could do worse than eat at Café Cru in the Imperial Hotel, which is very popular and highly recommended, or the Priory Farm Restaurant in St Olaves which has the added attraction of llamas and deer roaming in the grounds outside. Both restaurants offer a friendly helpful service and extensive menus with something to suit most palates.

Andover House is a small hotel with a classy five star restaurant which can be found in the Michelin Good Food Guide 2011. As you might expect the prices are not cheap but the quality is exceptional. One of the most popular Greek restaurants is Othello Restaurant on the sea front in Marine Parade which has been reviewed as a very family friendly restaurant. For Asian cuisine, a recommendation is the Sawadee Thai Restaurant in St Peters Road. This has been described as having the best Thai food outside of Thailand – by a diner with a Thai wife.

Of course, no holiday by the seaside is complete without some good old English fish and chips. Being this close to the sea you would expect the fish to be of the highest quality, and Great Yarmouth does not disappoint! With so many restaurants to choose from it is impossible to make recommendations, however one perhaps worth a try is Ocean Spray Restaurant on Marine Parade. The décor is perhaps a little dated but the food is excellent and cheap, with ‘chip shop’ chips rather than French fries and an extensive menu of fish choices as well as burgers, steaks and grills.
